Mexican drug cartels, particularly the Sinaloa Cartel and the Jalisco New Generation Cartel (CJNG), continue to exert a powerful and destructive influence on the United States, according to a recent report by the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA).

The DEA report highlights the alarming presence of these cartels in all 50 states.

They achieve dominance through a network of street gangs and local distributors, flooding US communities with dangerous drugs like fentanyl and methamphetamine.

The cartels’ ruthless tactics and focus on highly addictive drugs like fentanyl have contributed significantly to the ongoing opioid crisis in the US. Fentanyl, a synthetic opioid 50 times more potent than heroin, is responsible for a staggering number of overdose deaths nationwide.

The report also emphasizes the violent nature of these cartels. Turf wars and clashes between rival cartels spill over into US cities, endangering innocent bystanders and law enforcement officials.

The DEA has made tackling these cartels a top priority, launching “Operation Overdrive” to target high-level cartel members and disrupt their drug trafficking operations. This initiative focuses on seizing drugs and assets, dismantling distribution networks, and bringing cartel leadership to justice.
