A “homegoing” service will be held on February 28th for longtime Florida lawmaker and civil rights leader Geraldine Thompson, who passed away last week at the age of 76.

The service will take place at 11 a.m. on February 28th at Majestic Life Church in Orlando, with a public viewing held the day before from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m., also at the church.

Thompson, a Democratic state senator, died from complications following knee surgery, according to her family. She had a long and distinguished career in Florida politics, serving in both the House of Representatives and the Senate.
