Former First Lady Melania Trump made a strong statement in a new video released Thursday, emphasizing her belief that there is “no room for compromise” regarding a woman’s “individual freedom.”
“Individual freedom is a fundamental principle that I safeguard. Without a doubt, there is no room for compromise when it comes to this essential right that all women possess from birth, individual freedom. What does my body, my choice really mean?” the former first lady said in a video posted on X.
Her stance in favor of abortion rights contrasts with that of her husband, former President Donald Trump, just a month ahead of the election.
Trump has taken credit for the overturning of Roe v. Wade, which placed the issue in the hands of individual states. However, Trump has also stated that he would veto a federal abortion ban, saying the matter should stay at the state level.
