Rep. Matt Gaetz on Tuesday continued to bash House Speaker Kevin McCarthy for his “failed” leadership over the past eight months. And it seems McCarthy allies are seeking to pay conservative influencers for space to rip Gaetz on social media.
Gaetz, a Fort Walton Beach Republican, lashed out at McCarthy on Tuesday following a Fox News report saying Hunter Biden in 2019 received wire transfers totaling more than $250,000 from his Chinese business partners, who used President Joe Biden’s home address as Hunter’s.
The revelation further undermined Biden’s claim that he had no knowledge of Hunter’s shady business deals with overseas interests.

In response to Fox’s report, Gaetz said on X (formerly Twitter), “More than enough evidence has come out to move impeachment proceedings against Joe Biden. @SpeakerMcCarthy doesn’t really want to do it. If he did, we would have subpoenaed Hunter Biden by now. How much more evidence do we need?”
In a second X post, Gaetz posted a House floor speech in which he criticized the GOP-led House for pursuing a continuing resolution for spending rather than funding agencies with single-subject bills.
“One thing I agree with my Democrat colleagues on is that for the last eight months, the House of Representatives has been poorly led,” Gaetz said on X. “We own that, and we have to do something about it. My Democrat colleagues will have an opportunity to do something about that too, and we will see if they bail out our failed Speaker.”
It appears, though, that McCarthy’s allies are not taking Gaetz’s attacks lying down.
On Steve Bannon’s podcast “War Room,” conservative influencer Rogan O’Handley, who is on X as DC_Draino, said he was offered money to allow anti-Gaetz posts on his feed.

O’Handley told Bannon that he refused. “I stand with Matt Gaetz. I stand with the other few dozen representatives who are holding the line,” he said, adding that what Gaetz and the others want was promised by McCarthy.
O’Handley, who has 1.1 million followers on X, noted that this was the first time that the GOP had reached out to influencers. “They never did this before. They only want to do it when it comes to screwing the American people,” said O’Handley.
He added that it was unclear how much the pro-McCarthy forces wanted to pay. But he also said they are not doing their research.
“When it comes to the grassroots influencers, the biggest names, they all support what Matt Gaetz is doing,” he told Bannon.
