U.S. Rep. Matt Gaetz has vowed that once the GOP takes over next month, Republicans will go after the Biden administration for the leftist mindset that has captured the Pentagon.
Speaking on his “Firebrand” podcast last week, Gaetz discussed a GOP resolution that would have required the Department of Defense “to ’fess up about the woke ideology, the crazy radical gender ideology that they have been pushing on our military.”
For background, Gaetz used comments he made at a House Armed Services Committee hearing last week. As an example of how wokeism is undermining the military, he noted the erosion of quality among would-be applicants to the services academies.
As another example, he noted that the Army in August conducted training on gender identity, transgenderism, and “nonbinary 101.”
Gaetz also criticized Democrats who maintain the military would again start meeting recruiting goals if lawmakers just didn’t talk about wokeism in the ranks.

“That is a very boomer mentality,” Gaetz said at the hearing. Once the GOP is in charge, he added, “We will dig into this wokeness, we will get it out of our military, and we will restore the confidence in the greatest fighting force the world has ever known.”
At that hearing, GOP lawmakers took a shot at forcing the Pentagon’s hand early. As the Daily Caller reported, Rep. Andrew Clyde of Georgia introduced a resolution calling for the Defense Department to release all records pertaining to “transgender, gender identity, gender transition, gender reassignment, gender-affirming, gender neutral, gender dysphoria, nonbinary, gendered language, safe space” and “inclusive language.”
Democrats voted down the resolution, which Washington Democratic Rep. Adam Smith, the outgoing committee chairman, criticized as “the mother of all fishing expeditions.”
During his podcast, Gaetz said, despite Democratic resistance, “We will get the answers to these questions.”
He added that he will be on the House subcommittee that oversees military personnel matters, and that the panel will have “specialized focus on rooting out this wokeness.”
