Wanderis De La Cruz, a 24-year-old from Worcester, Massachusetts, has been formally charged with trying to bring contraband into a federal prison.
The indictment alleges that De La Cruz attempted to smuggle Suboxone, a medication used to treat opioid addiction, into the Federal Detention Center in Philadelphia in July 2024.

If found guilty, De La Cruz could face up to five years in prison. The FBI is handling the case, which is being prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Meghan E. Claiborne.
