A Maryland man, Emanuel Edward Sewell, 54, has been arrested in West Virginia by US Marshals for allegedly killing his parole officer.
According to authorities, Sewell had been on parole for a previous conviction and was being monitored by the parole officer he is now accused of killing. Reports indicate that Sewell had a pattern of violating the terms of his parole, leading to increased scrutiny and a tense relationship with the victim, 33-year-old Davis Martinez.
On Friday, May 31, 2024, at approximately 5:50 p.m., officers from the Montgomery County Department of Police 2nd District were dispatched to the 2800 block of Terrace Drive in Chevy Chase for a welfare check on a Maryland Parole and Probation agent who had not reported back to work after a resident check of Sewell, a registered sex offender.

Upon entry into the residence, officers discovered an adult male who was pronounced dead at the scene. Sewell was not in the apartment and has not been located.
Major Crimes detectives have obtained a warrant for Sewell’s arrest, charging him with second-degree murder.
Shortly after 5 p.m. on Saturday, June 1, Emanuel Edward Sewell was located traveling on I-64 near Hurricane, WV.
US Marshals Fugitive Task Force officers conducted a traffic stop, ultimately placing Sewell in custody.
Sewell has been charged with second-degree murder and is being held in Putnam County. He will be extradited to Montgomery County.
