MARION COUNTY, Fla. – Marion County Fire Rescue (MCFR) responded to a residential structure fire in the 11000 block of SW 72nd Avenue in Ocala, successfully rescuing a dog trapped inside the home.

The incident began at 11:18 a.m. when 911 received a report of smoke coming from the house, a person in the driveway, and a dog trapped inside. MCFR Engine #23 arrived on the scene at 11:23 a.m., finding smoke emanating from the front of the house and a patient outside in need of medical attention. Shortly after, Rescue #32 arrived and initiated patient care.

Firefighters from Engine #32, Tower #1, and Engine #31 joined forces to extinguish the blaze. Crews quickly entered the home, located the source of the fire, and successfully rescued Tia, the homeowner’s dog.

Firefighters on Tower #1 brought Tia out of the structure and administered oxygen treatment on the scene using a pet oxygen mask.

The homeowner was transported to a local hospital for further treatment, while a neighbor took Tia to a veterinarian for evaluation. Thankfully, no other injuries were reported among civilians or firefighters.
