Two men from Marathon, Florida, were arrested Friday afternoon after leading deputies on a brief car chase.

The incident began when deputies attempted to pull over a vehicle driven by 52-year-old Johnnie Leatherwood. The passenger, 64-year-old Terry Samuel Burgest, had outstanding warrants for cocaine sales.

Leatherwood initially stopped the vehicle but then sped off, prompting a short pursuit. Both men were apprehended and taken into custody.

During the arrest, deputies discovered that Burgest was in possession of 30.5 grams of cocaine.

He was charged with cocaine trafficking and other cocaine-related offenses stemming from earlier investigations. Leatherwood was charged with fleeing and eluding law enforcement.
