MONROE COUNTY, Fla. – A 35-year-old Marathon, Florida man was arrested Wednesday morning after allegedly robbing a convenience store on Stock Island while armed with a knife. No serious injuries were reported in the incident.
According to the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office, Jonathon Charles Shiadek was apprehended and now faces multiple felony charges including robbery with a weapon, aggravated assault, possession of a weapon by a convicted felon, and theft.

The incident happened at approximately 2:05 a.m. at the Tom Thumb store located on Stock Island. Authorities say Shiadek entered the store, opened a soda, drank some of it, and then attempted to conceal it along with a bag of chips.
When the store clerk and three customers attempted to intervene, Shiadek allegedly brandished a knife. He reportedly swung the knife around and chased one witness while making threats to kill them.

Sheriff’s deputies were quickly dispatched to the scene and located Shiadek a short time later in the vicinity of U.S. 1. He was taken into custody without further incident and subsequently transported to jail.
