ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. – A 68-year-old man has died after police say he was struck by a pickup truck while crossing 18th Ave South overnight.
On Monday, September 4th just before 8:30 pm., a Dodge Ram was traveling westbound in the 2400-block of 18th Avenue South.
A pedestrian, James Higgs, 68, was crossing 18th Avenue South in the mid-block with no crosswalk.

The Dodge Ram was unable to stop and struck the pedestrian, police say.
Higgs was transported to Bayfront Health where he died of his injuries. The next of kin has been notified.
The driver of the Dodge Ram remained on the scene and is cooperating with the investigation.
This is an ongoing investigation, according to police.
