Man Dies After Crashing Into White House Security Barrier

A motorist died after a vehicle collided with an exterior perimeter gate of the White House compound late Saturday, and the event was being investigated as a traffic accident, authorities said.

President Joe Biden was spending the weekend in Delaware, and the Secret Service reported no threat to the White House.

According to a Secret Service statement, the male driver, who was not immediately recognized, was discovered dead in the vehicle shortly after the incident at 10:30 p.m.

According to the Metropolitan Police Department, the vehicle drove into a security barrier at 15th Street and Pennsylvania Avenue NW. Police were called to the location at 10:46 p.m., and one adult male was pronounced dead after colliding with a security barrier around the property.

The Secret Service stated that security processes had been implemented and there was no threat to the White House. The Secret Service and police will continue their investigation.
