ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. – St. Petersburg Police officers arrested David Person, 67, for charges involving a violent sexual assault from 2017.
Police say on September 14th, 2017, Person approached the victim from behind and struck her with a closed fist, knocking her unconscious. He then sexually assaulted her.
On April 19th, 2024, detectives with the Special Victims Unit received a notification from the Combined DNA Index System (CODIS) that Person’s DNA from a recent arrest matched the DNA in the system from the 2017 case.

Detectives spent the last few weeks locating the victim (who now lives out of the area) and also tracking Person down to take him into custody.
Person is charged with sexual battery, aggravated battery, and false imprisonment.
