SPRING HILL, Fla. – A man has been arrested for attempting to break into Crowder Bros. Ace Hardware in Spring Hill.
According to deputies on Saturday, at approximately 1:24 a.m., during a proactive patrol on Spring Hill Drive, Hernando County Sheriff Deputy D. Hardy noticed an individual holding a cell phone, with the flashlight activated, trying to open the rear door of Crowder Bros. Ace Hardware located at 12480 Spring Hill Drive.
Deputies immediately attempted contact with the individual, identified as 30-year-old Anthony Porto, who tried to flee when deputies approached, but was unable to do so as a fence blocked his path.

When asked what he was doing, Porto told the deputies “he was just trying to get home”.
Porto was placed under arrest and transported to the Hernando County Detention Center where he was charged as follows:
- Attempted Burglary – Commercial
- Possession of Burglary Tools
- Porto’s bond amount was set at $7,000.
