LAND O’ LAKES, Fla. – Drivers navigating the Land O’ Lakes area should brace for significant traffic delays this week due to major lane closures on State Road 54.
Two of the three eastbound lanes on SR 54, located just east of US 41, are scheduled to be closed daily from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. These closures began earlier this week and are expected to continue through Friday, April 18th.

Transportation officials warn that these closures will likely cause congestion and delays well above normal seasonal levels. The impact is expected not only on eastbound SR 54, with backups beginning west of the US 41 intersection, but also on US 41 itself as drivers approach SR 54.
Motorists whose destinations are not within the immediate vicinity of the lane closures are strongly encouraged to seek alternate routes or adjust their travel times to avoid the peak closure hours between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m.

Despite the lane reductions, officials have confirmed that all traffic movements through the affected area will be maintained. Access to side streets and driveways along the impacted stretch of SR 54 will also remain open during the closure periods.
Drivers are advised to exercise caution when traveling through the work zone and allow for extra travel time.
