HERNANDO COUNTY, Fla. – A joint operation by the Hernando County Sheriff’s Office (HCSO) and the Citrus County Sheriff’s Office SWAT teams led to a significant drug bust in Brooksville on Wednesday, January 30th, resulting in the arrest of ten individuals and the seizure of a substantial quantity of narcotics and firearms.

Simultaneous search warrants were executed at three adjoining properties on Carter Road (9135, 9155, and 9165) owned by the same family. Nine individuals were arrested on-site, and a tenth suspect, Chylse Garrett, was apprehended later by the Special Investigations Unit (SIU).

The individuals arrested face a range of charges, including trafficking in methamphetamine and fentanyl, possession of firearms by convicted felons, evidence tampering, and various drug possession charges.

One suspect, Daniel Gonzales, was also arrested on an active warrant for principal to the sale of methamphetamine.

The operation yielded a significant amount of contraband, including:

  • Narcotics:
    • Fentanyl: 62.4 grams
    • Methamphetamine: 31.1 grams
    • Marijuana: 0.4 grams
    • Buprenorphine Naloxone: 2 doses/patches
    • Other prescription medications
  • Weapons and Ammunition:
    • Firearm: 1
    • Ammunition: 354 rounds (various calibers) and a box of.410 shells

Sheriff Al Nienhuis emphasized the importance of the operation. “This operation is yet another example of our commitment to keeping dangerous drugs out of our community and firearms out of the hands of convicted felons,” he said. “The successful execution of these search warrants, in coordination with our regional partners, underscores the importance of a proactive and intelligence-driven approach to law enforcement.”
