MAGA PAC Says China Protests Show The Need For Trump’s Leadership

As a wave of nationwide protests against COVID-19 restrictions cooled in China on Monday, former President Trump’s team said his leadership is needed now more than ever.

“President Trump stood up to President Xi and enacted tough-on-China policies,” said MAGA PAC in an emailed statement.

“His administration indicted Chinese drug traffickers for distributing fentanyl, imposed tariffs on hundreds of billions of dollars’ worth of Chinese goods, called out Beijing for committing “genocide” against the Uyghur Muslims, and stopped Chinese travel during COVID, which saved countless lives,” said the PAC.

Protests broke out across the nation this past weekend, which analysts believe were prompted by the death of 10 people following a fire in the city of Urumqi, after locked doors and quarantine barriers trapped tenants and firefighters alike inside a burning high-rise.

The city is located in the province of Xinjiang, which contains 10 million of the Uyghur Muslim ethnic minority group, and has been subjected to the longest lockdowns in the nation.

Protesters also took to the streets in the cities of Wuhan and Chengdu on Sunday, while students on numerous university campuses around China gathered to demonstrate over the weekend.

In the early hours of Monday in Beijing, two groups of protesters totaling at least 1,000 people were gathered along the Chinese capital’s 3rd Ring Road near the Liangma River, refusing to disperse.

“We don’t want masks, we want freedom. We don’t want COVID tests, we want freedom,” one of the groups chanted earlier.

The Biden DOJ announced last Wednesday that it would pull the plug on a Trump-era initiative aimed at cracking down on China’s economic espionage following a year of criticism from some fellow Democrats, hundreds of university professors, left-wing activists, and the Chinese Communist Party itself, according to the Washington Examiner.

Trump’s team blasted the Biden admin.

“President Trump is not done. During his announcement speech, he said “we will launch an all-out campaign to eliminate America’s dependence on China.” Biden, on the other hand, is weak on China. He is limited by his political weakness and obviously compromised by his family’s business dealings. Biden even ended a Trump administration program to combat Chinese espionage. He cannot be trusted to stand up to China’s authoritarian government,” said the PAC.
