A left-wing college professor in New York was fired recently after threatening journalists with a machete, just days after she assaulted a group of pro-life students.

City University of New York’s Hunter College terminated art professor Shellyne Rodriguez after she apparently held the blade to a reporter’s throat. On Thursday, she turned herself in to police.

The incident occurred on Tuesday, when New York Post reporter Reuven Fenton and a photographer went to Rodriguez’s home to get her comments on the May 2 tirade she launched at the pro-life students.

In that instance, as a social media video showed, she approached a table manned by Students for Life and began yelling at them. “You’re not educating s—. This is f—ing propaganda. This is bulls–t. This is violent. You’re triggering my students,” she said.

Then, she flips over a metal case and tosses it at the students, and destroys their display of brochures.

A student group called CUNY for Abortion actually applauded Rodriguez for her violent outburst. “We refuse to allow CUNY to welcome Students for Life and other far-right groups onto our campuses. We will not be persuaded by an ambiguous liberal vision of allowing ‘all ideas to gain a hearing,” the group said. “In solidarity with Shellyne, we commit to disrupting, dismantling, and uprooting any of these far-right groups when they attempt to plant seeds of harm at CUNY.”

On Tuesday, when Fenton approached Rodriguez, and he said who he was, she flew into a rage again.

“Get the f— away from my door, or I’m gonna chop you up with this machete,” she yelled at the reporter and the photographer and went back inside. She then came back out and appeared to press the blade of the machete against Fenton’s neck.

She went back inside again, only to reappear again and chase them as they left the scene. Rodriguez, still wielding the machete, reportedly kicked Fenton in the shins as he tried to get into his car. “If I see you on this block one more f–king time, you’re gonna …!”

Rodriguez screamed. “Get the f–k off the block! Get the f–k out of here, yo!”

The New York Post reported on Tuesday that she was fired just hours after the video of the assault on Fenton was made public.

Vince Dimiceli, a Hunter College spokesman, said, “Hunter College strongly condemns the unacceptable actions of Shellyne Rodriguez and has taken immediate action. Rodriguez has been relieved of her duties at Hunter College effective immediately and will not be returning to teach at the school.”

The former college professor surrendered to the New York Police Department (NYPD) Thursday morning, the NYPD.
