Deshawn Henderson, a 26-year-old from Baton Rouge with a knack for finding trouble, apparently wasn’t a fan of halfway house rules.
After being politely asked to provide a urine sample at the City of Faith Residential Reentry Center, Henderson decided to redecorate the security trailer with his temper. Perhaps realizing interior design wasn’t his forte, he opted for a different kind of “reentry” – into the outside world, without permission.
This impromptu vacation lasted a thrilling 14 days before Henderson, presumably tired of sleeping under the stars and eating gas station ramen, surrendered to the U.S. Marshals Service.

Unfortunately for Henderson, his escape artistry didn’t impress the judge, who sentenced him to 18 months in federal prison for his brief taste of freedom.
It seems Mr. Henderson will have a bit more time to contemplate the importance of following instructions (and maybe take up a less destructive hobby).
This case was investigated by the U.S. Marshals Service, who clearly have a better grasp of hide-and-seek than our escape artist. Assistant United States Attorney Stephen R. Vick, Jr. prosecuted the case.
