California’s Democratic Gov. Gavin Newsom believes he smells an opportunity after the fallout of Disney CEO Bob Chapek’s hand-wringing over the Parental Rights in Education bill.

Like Gavin Newsom’s In-Laws, More Americans Would Prefer To Live In Florida Instead Of California

We already knew that California Democratic Gov. Gavin Newsom’s in-laws prefer to live in Florida rather than the state he runs.

We already knew that California Democratic Gov. Gavin Newsom’s in-laws prefer to live in Florida rather than the state he runs.

It seems plenty of other people agree with them.

WPA Intelligence, a data research firm, reported recently that 61 percent of Americans would choose to live in Republican Gov. Ron DeSantis’ Florida instead of California, according to a poll the firm took last month.

Among Republicans, 83 percent chose Florida, as did 61 percent of independents. Still, 39 percent of Democrats picked the Sunshine State over Newsom’s woketopia on the left coast.

“Though we aren’t surprised at the results, we are certainly pleased to see even more evidence of the success of Governor DeSantis’ leadership,” a DeSantis spokesman told the Daily Caller News Foundation, which reported on the poll on Thursday.

“He is constantly working to keep Florida free, safe, and among the states with the lowest tax burden on the individual.”

Newsom has sought to pick a fight with DeSantis for most of the summer, airing ads in Florida and pledging to donate $100,000 to his Democratic challenger, who is now former U.S. Charlie Crist of Clearwater.

Yet as The Free Press reported last week, Newsom has done such a bad job running California that his in-laws have bugged out.

Kenneth and Judith Siebel, whose daughter Jennifer is married to Newsom, fled the Golden State for the Sunshine State just as the pandemic was starting in 2020.

The Siebels bought a $3.3 million home in Naples in March that year, and became registered voters in Florida three months later – even though they still appear to own a home in the San Francisco area.

Newsom’s father-in-law is a registered Republican, while his mother-in-law has no party affiliation. In April they gave $5,000 to DeSantis’ re-election campaign.

Kenneth Siebel, an investment manager, also has given to GOP Sens. Ron Johnson, Tom Cotton and Josh Hawley – the latter of whom is routinely painted by the left as an insurrectionist.

Free Press readers will recall that Newsom ran an anti-DeSantis campaign ad on July 4, encouraging Floridians to move to his state, which, he said, “where we still believe in freedom – freedom of speech, freedom to choose, freedom from hate, and the freedom to love.” It seems doubtful Newsom will get many takers on this offer. After all, his own family doesn’t want to live where he’s in charge.
