TAMPA, Fla. – The Tampa Bay Lightning recognized Stephanie Thompson, a leader at Feeding Tampa Bay, as the Lightning Community Hero during Saturday’s game against the Washington Capitals. Thompson received a $50,000 donation from the Lightning Foundation and the Lightning Community Hero program, presented by Jabil.
Thompson has dedicated over five years to Feeding Tampa Bay, demonstrating a passion for developing programs that address the needs of the community.

She leads teams at Trinity Café, the Feeding Pinellas Empowerment Center, and Feeding Tampa Bay’s Causeway Center, which collectively serve over 600 individuals daily.
The $50,000 grant will support Feeding Tampa Bay’s Neighbor Services program, which offers comprehensive assistance beyond food relief, including crisis intervention and connection to community resources.
This funding will enable the program to continue serving approximately 550 individuals with 1,215 services each month.

Thompson is the 594th Lightning Community Hero honored since the program’s inception in 2011. The Vinik family, owners of the Lightning, committed $10 million to the program over its first five seasons and recently renewed their commitment with another $10 million donation. To date, the Lightning Foundation has donated over $32 million to nearly 750 non-profit organizations in the Tampa Bay area.
