Lightning Close Out Carolina, WIll Face Bruins Or Islanders

TAMPA, Fla. – The Tampa Bay Lightning closed out the Carolina Hurricanes In Tuesday’s Game 5, winning 2-0 and silencing a raucous crowd in Raleigh.

The Lightning became the second team to advance to the semi-finals after Montreal finished its sweep of Winnipeg on Monday.

Andrei Vasilevskiy made 29 saves to shut out the Hurricanes and advance the Lightning to the Stanley Cup semi-finals.

Vasilevskiy allowed nine goals the entire series against one of the best offenses in the league, and four of those came in one game. On Tuesday, Vasilevskiy held the Hurricanes down while the Lightning offense found its footing in the second period.

The Lightning will go up against either the Boston Bruins or NY Islanders in the Stanley Cup semifinals, who play tonight in Game 6. The Islanders lead that series 3-2.
