Lightning and Florida Blue Team Up Distribute Meals This Week

TAMPA, Fla. – The Tampa Bay Lightning, along with Florida Blue, Florida’s Blue Cross Blue Shield plan, and Feeding Tampa Bay, are teaming up to distribute meals for those in need during the holiday season beginning tomorrow. This week the Lightning and Florida Blue will be holding a food drive at AMALIE Arena to help collect items for families in need. Additionally, the Lightning is teaming up with Florida Blue and Feeding Tampa Bay to provide pre-made Thanksgiving meals to families in Pinellas Park this week. Full details on both events are below.

AMALIE ARENA FOOD DRIVE

What: The Lightning and Florida Blue will be hosting a food drive at AMALIE Arena over two days this week to fight against food insecurity. Together, the Lightning and Florida Blue will be collecting non-perishable food items during the contactless, drive-thru event to donate to Feeding Tampa Bay to support food distribution needs over the holiday season.

Who: Lightning and Florida Blue employees.

When: Tuesday, November 24 and Wednesday, November 25 from Noon until 6 p.m. each day

Where: AMALIE Arena (401 Channelside Drive, Tampa, FL)

FEEDING TAMPA BAY EVENT

What: The Lightning, along with Florida Blue and Feeding Tampa Bay, are preparing 250 pre-made Thanksgiving Day meals for families of four and will be distributing them in Pinellas County on Tuesday afternoon. Lightning Chef Waylon will be preparing all the meals with help from his staff and Florida Blue is donating the needing food and other supplies to produce them. Families will pick up their meals at a drive-thru event at Feeding Pinellas. Plus, Florida Blue will also offer $0 drive-up flu shots for persons age 3 and older at the event. Everyone receiving a flu shot will get an extra surprise gift from the Lightning and Florida Blue.
