The Liberty Justice Center has commended the U.S. Department of Education for the establishment of a new Title IX Special Investigations Team (SIT). The organization views this as a crucial step towards ensuring that schools nationwide adhere to the rights of students and comply with federal law, particularly in cases involving the controversial placement of males in spaces designated for females.
The Liberty Justice Center emphasizes that the SIT’s formation aligns with its own efforts to protect student privacy, dignity, and safety.

They point to the recent launch of investigations by the Department of Education’s Office for Civil Rights (OCR) into the Illinois Department of Education, Chicago Public Schools, and Deerfield Public Schools District 109. These investigations followed a complaint filed by the Liberty Justice Center and the Defense of Freedom Institute.
According to the Liberty Justice Center, their complaint highlighted significant Title IX violations, including instances where female students were allegedly pressured to share intimate spaces with a biological male, compromising their rights and safety.

“For years, far too many states and school districts have been violating their obligations under Title IX and the Constitution,” said Jacob Huebert, President of the Liberty Justice Center. “We applaud the Department of Justice’s commitment to ending discrimination against women and girls and holding states and schools accountable, and we look forward to continuing to help them do that.”
The Liberty Justice Center expressed pride in its role in raising awareness of these issues. They believe that the Department of Education’s investigations and the creation of the SIT underscore the importance of holding educational institutions responsible for their Title IX obligations.
The organization also stated its readiness to support the SIT’s work in ensuring that schools across the country comply with Title IX and respect the rights of all students.
