About Joe and Ben:
Ben Henderson is a lifelong resident of Tampa, except for the four years he spent at Winthrop University in Rock Hill, S.C. after graduating from Brandon High School. He ran cross country and track at both schools, and later coached those sports at Strawberry Crest High School. He also was a volunteer coach at Florida State University and the University of South Florida.
He is married to the former Heather McNeill. Ben also is a season-ticket holder for the Tampa Bay Lightning and Buccaneers and was a correspondent for both the Tampa Tribune and Tampa Bay Times. He teaches at Plant City High School, where he is the boys soccer coach.
Joe Henderson has lived in Florida for nearly 50 years, most of which was spent as a sportswriter and columnist for The Tampa Tribune. Joe covered many local, state, national, and even global events at the Tribune, including numerous World Series, Super Bowls, Final Fours, college football bowl, and championship games, and the 2004 Summer Olympic Games in Athens, Greece.
He is married to the former Elaine Patterson, who tolerates his interest in sports. He also published a book called “Faith Through Flames” about the miraculous recovery by the football coach at his Ohio high school from a horrible accident.
