The launch carrying the first production satellites for Amazon’s Project Kuiper broadband constellation aboard a United Launch Alliance (ULA) Atlas V rocket is now targeting April 28, 2025, according to an update from ULA.
The mission, designated Kuiper 1, is scheduled to lift off from Space Launch Complex-41 (SLC-41) at Cape Canaveral Space Force Station, Florida. The launch window is set to open at 7 p.m. EDT and will extend for two hours.

This launch marks a pivotal moment for both Amazon and the commercial space industry. It represents the deployment of the initial batch of operational satellites for Project Kuiper, Amazon’s ambitious initiative to provide global high-speed internet access from low Earth orbit (LEO).
The mission also highlights the collaboration between Amazon and ULA, signaling a new phase in deploying large commercial satellite constellations.

The ULA Atlas V 551 configuration, a robust and reliable launch vehicle, is tasked with delivering these critical satellites into their intended orbits, taking the first step in building out the full Kuiper network.
