LARGO, Fla. – A Largo man was arrested on Saturday after a tense standoff with police, during which he barricaded himself inside his home and threatened officers with a machete.
On Saturday, August 3, 2024, Largo Police officers responded to a domestic battery call at 12928 Seminole Blvd. The victim reported being assaulted and dragged back into his mobile home by his son, Adam Dearth.
When officers attempted to make contact with Dearth, he brandished a machete and barricaded himself inside the home. Dearth also tried to fill the residence with propane gas, but officers were able to quickly shut off the supply.

The Largo Police SWAT Team, Crisis Negotiations Team, and Tactical Reconnaissance Unit responded to the scene. After a lengthy standoff, Dearth surrendered without incident.
Dearth is facing charges of aggravated assault on a law enforcement officer (two counts), false imprisonment, and domestic battery on a person 65 years or older.
