TAMPA, Fla. – Tampa Fire Rescue (TFR) crews battled a significant commercial trash fire at a recycled metals facility in Drew Park on Wednesday afternoon.
At approximately 3:20 PM on March 19, 2025, firefighters responded to a call at the 4800 block of N. Hesperides St. Upon arrival, Engine 12 found a large pile of scrap metal fully engulfed in smoke and flames.

Firefighters employed both ground and aerial operations to extinguish the blaze. Workers from the scrap metal facility assisted firefighters by using their equipment to move piles of recycled metals, allowing crews to access and extinguish hotspots.
The fire was brought under control within 50 minutes. Fortunately, no injuries were reported to firefighters or civilians at the scene.
TFR investigators are on site, and the cause of the fire is currently under investigation.
