LAKELAND, Fla. – A fire broke out shortly after midnight on Cresap Street in Lakeland, destroying multiple shed-like structures. Polk County Fire Rescue (PCFR) responded swiftly to the scene, preventing the flames from spreading to a nearby mobile home.

The fire was reported at 12:08 a.m., and firefighters from Engine 24 arrived just six minutes later to find the structures fully engulfed. Crews immediately began battling the blaze and had water on the fire by 12:18 a.m. Thanks to their quick actions, the fire was knocked down within 13 minutes, preventing any damage to the adjacent mobile home.

Firefighters extensively overhauled the area to ensure no lingering embers could reignite. Thankfully, no injuries were reported.

The Red Cross was notified to assist those affected by the fire, and the State Fire Marshal’s Office will investigate the cause of the blaze.

Interim Fire Chief Shawn Smith praised the firefighters for their rapid response and work in containing the fire.
