LAKELAND, Fla. – The Lakeland Police Department is seeking qualified individuals to join its ranks as certified police officers. Starting Monday, March 10th, 2025, the department will begin accepting applications for this rewarding career opportunity.
This recruitment drive is specifically targeted towards individuals who already possess Florida Law Enforcement Officer certification. The department aims to attract dedicated individuals committed to serving and protecting the Lakeland community.

Position Details
- Application Period: Opens Monday, March 10th, at 12:01 a.m. and closes after the first 30 qualified applicants or seven days (March 17th at 4 p.m.), whichever comes first.
- Starting Salary: Over $65,000 annually, with potential for higher pay based on experience.
- Compensation and Benefits: Includes holiday pay, night shift differential, off-duty detail opportunities, salary incentive pay, longevity pay, tuition reimbursement, pension plan, and deferred compensation 457 plan.

Applicants must meet one of the following criteria:
- Hold an active Florida Law Enforcement Certification.
- Be enrolled in or currently attending a Florida Commission-approved Basic Law Enforcement Academy with a start date no later than 60 days from the application date.
- Meet the requirements for or be enrolled in a Commission Comparable Compliance Equivalency of Training Program with a start date no later than 60 days from the application date.
