LAKELAND, Fla. – The Lakeland Police Department is now accepting applications for its 2024 Citizens Police Academy, offering community members a unique opportunity to learn about law enforcement operations and procedures.
The 12-week program, consisting of 14 classes, will begin on August 1, 2024, and conclude on October 17, 2024. Classes will be held every Thursday evening from 6:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m.
Participants will gain insight into various aspects of policing, including patrol operations, special investigations, crime scene investigations, SWAT, and K9 units.

The academy also includes a tour of the police station and a firearms familiarization course with an optional shooting range experience.
Applicants must be at least 18 years old and have a desire to learn more about their local police department. Residency within the city of Lakeland is not required.
