LAKELAND, Fla. – A 39-year-old Lakeland man died early Friday morning after his motorcycle collided with a car on U.S. Highway 98 North.

Lakeland Police Department officers responded to a traffic crash near the 1200 block of U.S. 98 North at approximately 12:56 a.m. A 2010 red Toyota sedan, driven by 24-year-old Isaiah Desir of Lakeland, was traveling southbound on U.S. 98 North. A 2001 black Honda motorcycle, driven by 39-year-old Guelsy Oritz of Lakeland, was also traveling southbound, approaching the Toyota.

For reasons currently under investigation, the motorcycle impacted the rear of the Toyota, causing Oritz to be ejected from the motorcycle. Desir brought the Toyota to a controlled stop and remained at the scene.
