Lakeland Man With Multiple Warrants Arrested After Reckless Chase, Crash: Polk County Sheriff

LAKELAND, Fla. – A 29-year-old Lakeland man, Nyo Desir, wanted on multiple warrants, led Polk County Sheriff’s Office (PCSO) deputies on a reckless chase that ended in a crash near Joker Marchant Stadium on Tuesday, August 13th.

Deputies spotted Desir driving a white van near Lakeland Regional Health Medical Center and attempted a traffic stop. However, Desir fled, driving recklessly, prompting deputies to prioritize public safety and cease pursuit.

Desir’s attempt to escape ended when he crashed into a fence near the stadium. Deputies found the van abandoned and located Desir fleeing on foot. He was quickly apprehended.

Desir was arrested on his outstanding warrants, which included charges for Robbery, Felony Criminal Mischief, Burglary, Tampering with a Victim, Petit Theft, and Violation of Injunction.

He also faces new charges for Fleeing and Eluding an Officer After Crash involving Property Damage, Leaving the Scene of a crash without Providing Information, Resisting Officer without Violence, and Trespassing of an Occupied Structure.

He is currently being held at the Polk County Jail.
