PASCO COUNTY, Fla. – A Lakeland man was killed in a head-on collision on US-98 Friday evening. The crash occurred south of Stranton Hall Drive around 7:06 p.m. and left three others with serious injuries.
According to the Florida Highway Patrol, a Genesis GV80 driven by a 28-year-old Orlando man was traveling southbound on US-98 when it attempted to pass another vehicle.
In doing so, the Genesis entered the northbound lane and collided head-on with a Kia Soul driven by a 51-year-old Lakeland man.

The impact caused both vehicles to rotate before coming to a stop. The driver of the Kia Soul suffered fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene.
The driver of the Genesis and two passengers in the Kia, a 43-year-old man from Orlando and a 28-year-old woman from Kissimmee, were transported to a local hospital with serious injuries.
The Florida Highway Patrol is investigating the crash.
