LAKELAND, Fla. – David Bell Jr., a 48-year-old Lakeland resident, led Polk County Sheriff’s Office (PCSO) deputies on a brief bicycle chase after attempting to evade arrest for outstanding warrants.
PCSO deputies attempted to apprehend Bell, who had two active warrants: Fleeing to Elude and Failure to Appear for Driving with License Suspended or Revoked. Upon seeing the deputies, Bell fled his residence on a bicycle.

A deputy initiated a traffic stop, but Bell attempted to outmaneuver the deputy with “nifty” bike maneuvers, according to PCSO.
However, his escape attempt was short-lived as he crashed on Tillman Road.
Bell attempted to flee on foot, but was quickly apprehended.
Following his arrest, Bell confessed to fleeing because he was aware of the warrants against him. He was transported to the Polk County Jail and charged with resisting arrest in addition to his existing warrants.
