LAKELAND, Fla. – A 70-year-old Lakeland man, John Mihalek, was arrested on Monday evening, April 7th, by a Polk County Sheriff’s Office (PCSO) deputy and an officer from the Florida Department of Corrections (FDC).

The arrest was made due to an active warrant for Mihalek’s arrest for violating his probation.

Mihalek was on probation for 550 counts of Possession of a Photo of a Sexual Performance by a Child. He had served six years in prison and was sentenced to an additional fifteen years of probation, scheduled to end in 2028.

The FDC determined that Mihalek had violated his probation by possessing pornography, leading to the issuance of the arrest warrant.

The PCSO notes that Mihalek is classified as a violent felony offender and a high-risk sex offender.
