POLK COUNTY, Fla. – A routine traffic stop in Lakeland on Monday evening led to the arrest of a man who initially provided a false name to law enforcement, revealing a string of outstanding warrants and the possession of numerous fraudulent credit cards and blank checks.
On Monday, April 21st, a Polk County Sheriff’s deputy conducted a traffic stop on a gray 2015 Buick in the vicinity of Wabash Avenue and Memorial Boulevard.
Upon making contact with the driver, who identified himself as “Tywan,” the deputy became suspicious. Further investigation showed that the individual’s real identity was 33-year-old Anqwuan Lashay McCoggle, a resident of Lakeland.

McCoggle’s true identity then unearthed a significant number of active arrest warrants originating from Hillsborough County.
These warrants included charges for Burglary of an Unoccupied Structure, Resisting Officer without Violence, Possession of Cannabis under 20 grams, Leaving the Scene of a Crash with Damage, Fleeing to Elude Law Enforcement, Driving While License Suspended or Revoked (DWLSR), and two counts of Failure to Appear related to Resisting Officer without Violence and Fleeing to Elude.
McCoggle was arrested at the scene.
During a search following the arrest, deputies discovered that McCoggle was in possession of 13 credit cards, all bearing different names. Authorities also found two blank checks in his possession.

McCoggle was transported to the Polk County Jail, where he was booked on his numerous outstanding warrants. In addition to these charges, he faces a new charge of Providing a False Identification to a Law Enforcement Officer in Polk County.
The Polk County Sheriff’s Office has indicated that further charges are likely as detectives continue their investigation into the numerous credit cards and blank checks found in McCoggle’s possession.
