LAKELAND, Fla. – A 39-year-old Lakeland man, James Davis, was arrested on Saturday, February 8th, following an altercation that escalated from a disagreement over a ladder to an armed threat.
Polk County Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to a disturbance call on Doe Circle West around 10:00 am. The investigation revealed that an argument had erupted between Davis and another man, who knew each other, over a ladder. Davis allegedly entered the victim’s property without permission and took the ladder.

The victim confronted Davis, demanding he return the ladder and leave the property. Davis dropped the ladder but then allegedly armed himself with a 2×4 board and threatened the victim. The situation intensified when Davis reportedly retrieved a 9mm handgun from his car and threatened the victim, saying, “I will blow your head off.”

Davis was arrested and transported to the Polk County Jail. He is charged with armed burglary with assault/battery and petit theft.
