Lakeland Crash Victim Dies From Injuries, Norwood Arrested on Upgraded Charges

LAKELAND, Fla. – On Sunday, August 9, 2020, Polk County Sheriff’s Office arrested 41-year-old Nancy Norwood after critically inuring 2-people and leaving the scene of the crash in Lakeland. Norwood, 41, from Tampa, was charged with DUI.

On August, 18, 2020, the driver of the motorcycle passed away from injuries sustained in this crash.

Nancy Norwood’s charges were upgraded to DUI Manslaughter (F-2) and Leaving the Scene of a Crash with Death (F-1). Norwood was arrested on August 18, 2020 and is currently in the Pinellas County Jail.

“My heart aches for the family of the victim in this horrific crash. This crash was completely avoidable. Ms. Norwood chose to drink and drive, which was a blatant disregard for human life. We will do everything in our power to hold her criminally accountable. Let us hope she will not get behind the wheel of a car for a very, very long time,” said Sheriff Grady Judd.

The 39-year-old passenger is still recovering from her injuries sustained in the crash.
