LAKELAND, Fla. – Two Lakeland residents were arrested Thursday following an investigation into a recent burglary, according to the Polk County Sheriff’s Office (PCSO).

Christopher Lee, 44, and Shari Conard, 43, were taken into custody on April 10th after deputies connected them to a burglary that occurred on April 5th in Lakeland. During that incident, a trailer, a go-kart, and two kayaks were reported stolen from a local property. The suspects allegedly used a silver Dodge Ram truck during the commission of the crime.

The investigation led a PCSO detective to Winchester Drive in Lakeland, less than 1,000 feet from the location of the burglary. The detective observed a silver Dodge Ram matching the description of the suspect vehicle.

Further observation revealed an item covered by a blue tarp in the truck bed, consistent in size with the stolen go-kart. A trailer, partially obscured by another blue tarp and resembling the one reported stolen, was also seen on the property.

As deputies surrounded the residence, Lee and Conard attempted to flee out the back but were quickly apprehended. The Sheriff’s Office credited Deputy Holley and K9 Buck with assisting in the swift capture, noting the suspects stopped their flight attempt upon encountering the K9 unit.

Following their apprehension, both Lee and Conard reportedly confessed to the burglary. Deputies successfully recovered the stolen trailer, go-kart, and kayaks.

Lee and Conard were transported and booked into the Polk County Jail. Both face charges including:

  • Burglary

Shari Conard faces additional charges of Providing False Identification to Law Enforcement. Authorities also discovered she had an outstanding warrant from Citrus County for Failure to Appear on charges of Possession of a Controlled Substance and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.
