LAKELAND: 2 People Airlifted After Plane Crash In Polk County Saturday

LAKELAND, Fla. – According to Lakeland Police, two people were seriously injured Saturday after a plane crashed in the 4100 block of South Pipkin Road in Lakeland.

Police say the crash happened just before 2:30 p.m. in an industrial area near Lakeland Linder International Airport.

“The crash involved a single-engine plane with two adult occupants,” the Lakeland Police Department said on its Facebook page. “Both occupants were airlifted for medical treatment with serious injuries.”

Investigators say that no one on the ground was injured in the crash.

Lakeland Police said that the crash will be investigated by the Federal Aviation Administration and National Transportation Safety Board.

The names of the injured individuals have not yet been released.
