POLK COUNTY, Fla. – A Polk County man behind bars faces additional charges after his boss uncovered a scheme involving stolen tools and pawn shop receipts. 38-year-old Cody Henriquez of Lake Wales was arrested on domestic violence charges, but his legal troubles have escalated thanks to a discovery made while cleaning out his truck.
Henriquez’s boss and cousin were tasked with clearing out his truck following his arrest, according to Polk County Sheriff Grady Judd. During the process, they stumbled upon pawn tickets for tools that the boss had loaned to Henriquez. Realizing that Henriquez had pawned the borrowed tools, the boss contacted the Polk County Sheriff’s Office.

A subsequent investigation confirmed the boss’s suspicions. Henriquez had indeed pawned the tools, leading to new charges related to theft and dealing in stolen property.
“Cody is not only in trouble for his current domestic violence-related charges,” said Judd. “But now, the dude is in trouble for pawning property and stealing property and all kinds of nonsense. You know, no good turn goes unpunished.”
Detectives simply visited Henriquez at the jail to add the new charges to his existing ones.
“Things aren’t looking too good for you at the beginning of 2025, Cody,” Sheriff Judd added. “You need to tighten up, big man.”
