LAKE COUNTY, Fla. – Jason Jameel Ganga, 38, was sentenced to 30 years in the Florida Department of Corrections by the Honorable Judge Heidi Davis. Ganga’s sentence includes a 25-year minimum mandatory sentence for his role in a brutal shooting that left a woman with multiple gunshot wounds.

Earlier this year, a Lake County jury found Ganga guilty of Attempted Second-Degree Murder, Shooting into an Occupied Vehicle, and Aggravated Battery.

Fifth Judicial Circuit State Attorney Bill Gladson stated, “The defendant’s crime was a brutal attempt on an innocent woman’s life, a clear disregard for the sanctity of human life, and today’s sentence reflects the seriousness of that crime.”

The incident occurred in March 2023 when Mount Dora Police responded to a shooting on Pine Avenue. Officers found a woman in a 2010 Nissan with at least two gunshot wounds and bullet holes in the driver’s side window. The victim identified Ganga as the shooter before being transported to the hospital.

After locating Ganga at his residence, officers discovered him hiding under a bed, holding an unloaded handgun. He was arrested after refusing to cooperate with authorities, and a search of the home uncovered multiple firearms and ammunition.

Assistant State Attorneys Gabriel Lozano and Eddie Moffitt successfully prosecuted the case.
