LAKE COUNTY, Fla. – Frank Thomas Diviak, a 24-year-old from Altoona with a history of violent felonies, has been sentenced to five years in federal prison. Diviak pleaded guilty in April to charges of possessing a firearm as a convicted felon, possessing a stolen firearm, and stealing a firearm from a licensed dealer.
The sentence follows a December 2023 incident where Diviak stole a revolver from a Lake County pawn shop and attempted to flee on his bicycle. He was quickly apprehended by law enforcement, with the stolen firearm falling from his clothing during his arrest.
This case highlights the successful collaboration between the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) and the Eustis Police Department.
It was prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Hannah Nowalk and falls under the Department of Justice’s Project Safe Neighborhoods (PSN) program, which aims to reduce violent crime and gun violence in communities.
