SPRING HILL, Fla. – Hernando County Fire Rescue (HCFR) crews quickly contained a kitchen fire in a Spring Hill home Wednesday evening, preventing further damage and ensuring the safety of the occupants.

The incident occurred just after 6:30 p.m. on December 18, 2024, in the 7300 block of Gates Circle. The fire was initially reported through an automatic fire alarm triggered at the residence. The alarm monitoring company notified the 9-1-1 communications center, which then contacted the home’s occupants. The residents confirmed that their kitchen was on fire.

HCFR crews arrived promptly and initiated an aggressive fire attack. Thanks to their swift response, the flames were isolated to the kitchen area, preventing the fire from spreading to other parts of the home. No injuries were reported.

The occupants, whose home sustained damage to the kitchen, are staying with a neighbor.

Investigators determined that the fire was caused by cooking.
