KISSIMMEE, Fla. – Edward Charlesalton Chappell, a 41-year-old from Kissimmee, has been sentenced to 15 years and 8 months in federal prison for possessing firearms and ammunition as a convicted felon.

The court also ordered the forfeiture of the weapons and ammunition involved. Chappell had previously pleaded guilty on June 17, 2024.

The sentence stems from a July 2022 incident where a state search warrant was executed at Chappell’s hotel room following a fentanyl sale to an undercover agent. Law enforcement discovered various drugs, drug paraphernalia, and two pistols with ammunition in the room.

Chappell’s extensive criminal history, which includes multiple drug-related convictions, prohibited him from possessing firearms or ammunition. This case highlights the collaborative efforts of the Drug Enforcement Administration, the Osceola County Sheriff’s Office, and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives.

The prosecution, led by Assistant United States Attorney Megan Testerman, falls under Project Safe Neighborhoods (PSN). This program aims to reduce violent crime and enhance community safety through partnerships between law enforcement agencies and the communities they serve.
