PASCO COUNTY, Fla. – New Port Richey Police are searching for a hit-and-run driver who struck a teen on Wednesday night at around 10:05 pm.

Investigators say New Port Richey Police responded to a pedestrian struck by a vehicle in the area of Madison Street and Illinois Avenue.

Officers discovered a 16-year-old juvenile male in the roadway with traumatic injuries to his lower body.

Police say the juvenile was unresponsive on scene and was transported to Bayonet Point Hospital as a trauma alert.

Witnesses reported a Kia sedan striking the juvenile and fleeing the scene.

The vehicle is a newer Kia Forte 4-door sedan with a missing driver-side mirror. It was last seen traveling south on Madison Street.
