Keystone Murder Suspect Arrested After Dispute Over Cash: Hillsborough County Sheriff

HILLSBOROUGH COUNTY, Fla. – The Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office (HCSO) has arrested Cris Jennings, 53, following a fatal shooting in Keystone that took place on July 15th.

Deputies responded to a 911 call around 4:45 a.m. and discovered Valerie Dandrea, 64, deceased from upper body trauma in a residence on the 18000 block of Crescent Road.

Jennings, who lived on the same property but in a separate structure, confessed to shooting Dandrea after a verbal altercation over cash escalated. He is also accused of threatening another individual with a firearm before law enforcement arrived.

“Our deputies acted quickly to apprehend the suspect and bring some measure of closure to the victim’s family,” said Sheriff Chad Chronister. “This tragic incident underscores our commitment to ensuring that those who commit violent acts are held accountable.”

Jennings now faces a series of charges, including Pre-Meditated First-Degree Murder, Armed Burglary with Battery (x2), Aggravated Battery, and Armed False Imprisonment.
