MONROE COUNTY, Fla. – A 71-year-old Key West man, Ricky Keith Burge, was arrested on Thursday, August 29, 2024, for illegally dumping trash and other items on private property on Stock Island.
The Monroe County Sheriff’s Office received a report on August 15th that Burge was illegally camping near 5th Street and 12th Avenue. The site contained a makeshift shed, tarps, propane tanks, oil canisters, scrap metal, household furniture, and scattered trash.
Burge was instructed to clean up and vacate the area within 24 hours but failed to comply. A warrant was then issued for his arrest, leading to his apprehension and booking into jail on Thursday.
