MONROE COUNTY, Fla. – An 18-year-old man was arrested Thursday following a road rage incident in which he allegedly pointed a realistic-looking airsoft gun at another motorist on U.S. 1 in Key Largo. The Monroe County Sheriff’s Office reported that no injuries occurred during the altercation.
The suspect, identified as Jarek Ryszard Widelski, was charged with aggravated assault and improper exhibition of a firearm.

The incident took place near Mile Marker 102 around 12:48 p.m., according to authorities. The victim reported that Widelski pointed what appeared to be a handgun at her during the encounter, prompting a weapons-related call to the Sheriff’s Office.
Deputies quickly located Widelski driving a pickup truck in the area. Upon stopping the vehicle, deputies conducted a search and discovered the weapon in question was an airsoft gun, designed to closely resemble a real firearm.

Widelski was subsequently taken into custody and transported to the Monroe County Jail.
The Sheriff’s Office emphasized that using a realistic-looking weapon in a threatening manner is a serious offense under Florida law, as it can instill fear of imminent harm. Officials reminded the public of the potential dangers and legal consequences of displaying such weapons in public settings.
